Are you the type of person who loves to set goals every January when the calendar rolls over to a new year?
I’m definitely that type of person.
I’ve always loved a new year, whether it be a new school year or a new calendar year.
It always feels like a do over.
As a teacher I feel like I get two do overs every year. One in August and one in January.
My professional goals for 2020 are big overarching goals.
Not specific goals.
My biggest goal is always to continue learning and growing as an educator.
I don’t ever want to become stagnant.
I have few ways I want to do that this year.
The first one is coming up sooner than I care to admit.
In February I will be presenting on digital breakouts at a state conference. I am both excited and sick to my stomach about it.
This is way out of my comfort zone, but it is a goal I have set for myself.
And I will check this one off the list.
Who knows. Maybe I’ll fall in love with presenting.
Probably not. But maybe.
I’ve been working on building my own website since August.
I thought I had it together and ready to share.
Then I wiped it and am starting over.
Talk about needing to have a growth mindset.
I am setting some small goals that will move me toward finish and launching my website this year.
2020 will bring yet another job change for me. More on that later, but for now know that I will still be in the classroom.
I want to use this job change as an opportunity to push myself to try new things.
Along those same lines, I will be graduating with a masters in Educational Technology at the end of this year. I am excited to see what new job opportunities this will open up for me. Stepping out of the classroom may happen sooner than I anticipate.
What are some of your professional goals for 2020?
Let me know in the comments.
