Let’s just go ahead and start off here with what is potentially an unpopular opinion. I don’t give Math homework. This is not to say that I don’t provide my students with practice. It just doesn’t look like traditional homework in my classroom.

One of the many reasons I don’t give Math homework is because I want to teach my students to take ownership of their own learning. How does not giving homework do that?
I want them to learn to self evaluate and determine if they need to practice a concept outside of class or not. Rather than homework I provide my students with websites to practice math. Today I want to share 3 of my favorites with you.
Build Up Your Technology Toolbox with these Websites to Teach Math
Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a well known website in the math world. What I love about this website is the immediate feedback it gives students. If my purpose is for students to practice then it only seems right that they receive immediate feedback. Practicing something the wrong way is not helpful. I also appreciate that Khan Academy provides quick videos with examples. This website is a great way for students to check for understanding in their own learning.
IXL
Speaking of immediate feedback, IXL is another website that provides this for students. I want to say upfront that my district pays for this website for us. You can use a free version I believe, but I’m not sure what limitations you have with that. What I love about using IXL is that it is adaptive to students. There is a diagnostic test that will determine where students are at and then give them practice on their level. It is a great way to help fill those gaps students may have.
Prodigy
This website also gives students immediate feedback. Can you tell I am all for immediate feedback. Prodigy is easily my students’ favorite of these three websites to practice math because it is gamified. Students love battling each other as they answer math questions. Like IXL, this site also offers a diagnostic test and then provides students with practice to meet them where they are in their understanding.
