With more technology being used in classrooms this year, the excitement over boom cards is growing.
And let me tell you – I am excited that people are getting excited!!
My students and I are big fans of them. One of my seventh grade students asked just last week if we could do them more often because she really liked the immediate feedback they provided.
Unsure what all the boom card excitement is about?
You aren’t alone.
Conversations with other teachers on Instagram have confirmed that lots of teachers are asking, “What are Boom Cards?
It’s time to stop wondering and easily get started!
The short answer is they are self-grading digital interactive task cards that provide data for teachers.
Students are shown one card at a time and receive immediate feedback.
Want to know the largest benefits of using boom cards?
The cards can be shuffled so they don’t appear in the same order for every student. Students can practice them over and over making them an excellent way to review for a test or practice a new concept. Challenge students to reach a certain score on a deck.
This also gives teachers feedback on how students are doing. With the reports provided, you can see how many times a student completes a set, their best score, their latest score, and the time it took them to finish the set.
Cards can be fill multiple choice, fill in the blank, or drag and drop. There are so many options for these cards. all
Y’all know I love using technology in the classroom and Boom Cards are no exception. I mean just look at these cards for measures of central tendency.
If you have ever taught measures of central tendency before, you know it takes quite a bit of practice for students to master it. These math boom cards are such a fun way to get that practice.
So what do you think? Are you ready to jump in and get started?
